Igniting METS is an Australian-first joint initiative between METS Ignited and the Queensland Government to assist mining equipment, technology and services (METS) companies. METS Ignited is an industry-led organisation funded by the Australian Government as part of its Growth Centre Initiative.
The Igniting METS Accelerator program seeks to bring late-stage startups and SMEs together with leading mining sector corporates focused on innovative mining sector solutions, to drive greater industry collaboration and commercialisation outcomes.
The successful applicants will be fast-tracked through an intensive 12-week program of deep dive workshops, mentoring and support from industry leaders, entrepreneurs and subject matter experts from Queensland, around Australia, and beyond – all designed to ignite a new wave of innovation within the sector.
As a precursor to the Igniting METS accelerator program, METS Ignited and KPMG will be delivering information sessions and training workshops, as well as a bootcamp style pitching and judging event in Mackay.
The purpose of the Mackay roadshow is to raise awareness, interest and involvement in mining equipment, technology and services (METS) sector innovation and commercialisation, and to identify potential startup teams and existing SME businesses to help them prepare applications to the accelerator. In addition, winners of the pitching event on Sunday afternoon will shortcut the application process by being shortlisted into the pool of applicants for final selection into the accelerator which will be held in Brisbane between July – October.
