Suzanne Brown is Principal of McKays Solicitors (Mackay). Being appointed at just 26 years of age, she is also the youngest ever director of a Government Owned Corporation, sitting on the Board of North Queensland Bulk Ports Corporation (as the only female director). NQBP is a leading port authority responsible for the working ports of Hay Point, Abbott Point, Mackay and Weipa.

Suzanne is Mackay’s only Queensland Law Society Business Law Accredited Specialist and one of only 23 in Queensland. In 2015, Suzanne was named as one of the 30 under 30 Best Lawyers in Australia, taking up 2 of the places in the categories of Energy and Resources and Government. She is the first lawyer ever to win more than one category in the awards. Suzanne was also recently named as one of the Courier Mail’s 20 under 40 Business Stars in Queensland (nominated by the President of the Queensland Law Society).

In her role as a solicitor, Suzanne advises a diverse range of clients, from the big end of town to small mum and dad businesses. Her husband also runs a small business, so Suzanne is acutely aware of the challenges that face those in small business. As a business specialist, Suzanne looks after clients from setup and right through the life of their business. She is a one-stop shop for her client’s legal matters and her a philosophy that prevention is better than a cure (the aim being to keep her clients out of trouble). Suzanne supervises one of the largest teams in her legal practice and is acts as a mentor to not only her clients, but many young professionals.

Suzanne also balances life as the mother of an active 2 year old daughter and is hands on in that role.
